Hospital Unit: Surgical Oncology

Location: Austin, TX 73301

Schedule: Onsite | Full-time | Days

Salary: $130k MAX (commensurate of experience)

A prominent acute-care hospital within a high-volume Texas medical network seeks a Nurse Manager for its Surgical Oncology department. This leadership opportunity has opened due to departmental restructuring and expansion of surgical oncology services.

Bold Clinical Leadership in Cancer Care

This is a dynamic, frontline leadership opportunity for a Registered Nurse with experience in oncology and a passion for patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager will oversee the daily operations of the surgical oncology unit—managing nursing practice, supervising care delivery, ensuring staff competency, and driving key performance metrics.

You will lead efforts to uphold evidence-based clinical standards while fostering a culture of accountability, compassion, and efficiency. The role involves direct collaboration with physicians, case managers, and hospital leadership to enhance patient safety, throughput, and satisfaction. This is a position with visibility and influence—positioned to grow into higher levels of operational leadership as the department scales services across oncology modalities.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

  • Active RN license in the State of Texas (or compact-eligible)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare leadership experience
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in oncology, surgical or acute care preferred
  • Oncology Chemotherapy Administration Certificate (required)
  • Strong skills in staffing, care coordination, and interdisciplinary communication
  • Proven experience driving unit-level quality metrics and patient satisfaction
  • Competence in managing budgets and operational resources in a clinical setting
